Having been born in Ontario, Canada and being raised in San Diego, California by a mother, who in her own rights, was a very talented water colorist, my appreciation of art began at an early age. What I see around me on a daily basis has inspired my interest in art and it has grown through the years. I attended U.C. San Diego Art Extension in La Jolla, CA for two years and then I found myself in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1969. There, it seemed at the time, was the end of a possible career in art.
After serving in the military I returned to San Diego to pursue a career as a private and corporate yacht captain. This allowed me the opportunity to live in and visit many countries. I have lived in the Bahamas, British Virgin Islands, Mexico, Costa Rica, parts of Europe, Africa, and have visited many other countries. In all my travels I saw firsthand the art forms from many different cultures. It was fascinating to see different styles textures, and media, not to mention to be inspired by some amazing artists who were enthusiastic about discussing their work.
